The purpose of inspecting the water supply system is to prevent accidental debris from entering the pipelines. During operation, the water supply section should be regularly inspected to eliminate potential hazards. Sediment and other deposits accumulated in the storage reservoir should be cleaned out on a scheduled basis. If rivers or lakes are used as the water source, debris at the pump intake should be checked to ensure that pump performance is not compromised. At the end of each irrigation cycle, all water should be drained from the pipelines, and all valves at the water source should be securely closed and sealed.

Pipeline systems in agricultural drip irrigation equipment inevitably accumulate sediment and residues of fertilizers and pesticides, making flushing essential. To do this, remove the drip emitters at the end of each lateral line, flush out any accumulated scale or fine particles from the outlet, and soak the emitters in water for thorough cleaning. During flushing, valves should be opened sequentially rather than all at once to maintain adequate pressure within the system.

During the cold winter months, especially in northern regions, failure to implement appropriate protective measures can expose these irrigation components to damage from freezing temperatures, which could jeopardize the system’s proper operation in the following year.
