Drip irrigation tape is a critical component of drip irrigation systems. It delivers water and essential nutrients to the root zone of crops in a uniform, slow, and drop-by-drop manner, in accordance with the crops’ water requirements, via a low-pressure piping network and emitters installed along the lateral lines. In contrast, conventional furrow or border irrigation involves large application rates that lead to significant soil erosion, compaction, and degradation; without timely cultivation and loosening, this can result in severe crusting, reduced aeration, and substantial disruption of soil structure. By contrast, drip irrigation is a form of micro-irrigation that allows water to infiltrate the soil slowly and evenly, thereby helping to maintain soil structure and creating an optimal soil environment in terms of moisture, fertility, and temperature.
It is currently the most effective water-saving irrigation method in arid and water-scarce regions, with a water-use efficiency of up to 95%. Compared with sprinkler irrigation, drip irrigation delivers even greater water savings and yield increases, while also allowing for simultaneous fertilizer application, which can more than double fertilizer efficiency. It is suitable for irrigating fruit trees, vegetables, cash crops, and greenhouse facilities, and can also be used for field crop irrigation in areas with severe water shortages. Its main drawback is that the drippers are prone to scaling and clogging, so the water source must be rigorously filtered. At present, domestically produced equipment has largely met the required standards, and regions with the necessary conditions should actively promote the development of drip irrigation.
Characteristics of Drip Irrigation Hoses and Flexible Belts
1. Drip irrigation pipelines and emitters are prone to clogging and have high water-quality requirements; therefore, a filter must be installed.
Second, drip irrigation cannot regulate the microclimate in the field, is unsuitable for irrigation during the freezing period, and cannot be used to apply manure as a topdressing in vegetable irrigation.
3. Drip irrigation requires a relatively high initial investment, so the economic benefits to the crop must be carefully considered.
4. During the installation of drip irrigation tubing, ensure that the plastic mulch is tightly pressed and compacted so that it lies as close as possible to the tubing, leaving no air gaps between them. This will prevent sunlight from being focused by water droplets. Prior to sowing, the soil should be leveled to minimize unevenness and depressions. Avoid allowing clods of soil, stones, or weeds to lift the mulch, which could trap moisture beneath it and create a lens effect that burns the drip irrigation tubing. When laying the tubing, consider burying it partially to further reduce the risk of focal-point burn.
That concludes all the information about drip irrigation tubing and flexible tape. If you have any further questions, please feel free to call our customer service for assistance!
