Release Date:
2025-04-11
With the advancement of smart agriculture, automated drip irrigation systems will be integrated with cutting-edge technologies such as the Beidou intelligent navigation system and shallow-buried drip irrigation–fertilizer coupling control technology, thereby creating a more intelligent irrigation infrastructure. This integration will further enhance the precision and efficiency of farmland irrigation, driving the green transformation and sustainable development of agriculture.
Drip irrigation automation is a water-saving irrigation method that achieves automated control of irrigation.
I. System Composition
The automated drip irrigation system primarily consists of the following components:
- Monitoring Center System : Equipped with comprehensive, enterprise-wide monitoring capabilities, it enables granular control of each irrigation valve. By leveraging a GIS system, the actual geographic locations of all managed fields are displayed on a central monitoring dashboard, providing a holistic view of real-time irrigation conditions across the entire irrigation district, as well as aggregated data on soil moisture, soil fertility, crop growth, and meteorological conditions.
- Field Management System Its primary function is to manage and monitor field data, including soil moisture, weather conditions, and crop growth status.
- Execution unit : Such as solenoid valves and drip emitters, used to deliver irrigation water.
- Communication component : Such as ZigBee communication modules, which are used to enable remote communication between the monitoring center and field equipment.
II. System Advantages
- Water conservation : Drip irrigation automation systems control the amount and timing of irrigation, thereby minimizing ineffective evaporation and water waste and improving water-use efficiency. Compared with conventional irrigation methods, they can reduce water consumption by approximately 35% to 75%.
- Saves time and labor : The system can operate automatically, reducing the need for manual intervention and lowering labor costs.
- Improve crop quality : By providing timely and appropriate water and fertilizer, drip irrigation automation systems can enhance crop quality and yield.
- Intelligent Management The system features intelligent analysis and decision-making, as well as data-driven early-warning analysis and management capabilities, enabling it to automatically adjust irrigation strategies based on crop growth requirements, climatic conditions, and other relevant factors.
III. Operating Principle
- Sensor monitoring The system uses a variety of field-mounted sensors, such as soil moisture sensors and meteorological sensors, to continuously monitor agricultural environmental conditions and crop growth status.
- Data Acquisition and Processing The collected data is transmitted to the control center, where it is analyzed and processed using data-processing techniques to generate the basis for irrigation decision-making.
- Control Strategy Development : Based on the results of data analysis, develop a rational irrigation strategy. The control strategy will be adjusted according to factors such as crop growth requirements, climatic conditions, and soil type.
- Controller command output Once the controller makes an irrigation decision, it sends a signal to the irrigation equipment—such as solenoid valves and drip emitters—to initiate the irrigation process and, based on the calculated irrigation volume and duration, controls the operation of the equipment.
- Communication and Interaction : Utilizing wireless or wired communication technologies, field-collected data is transmitted to the monitoring center, while control commands from the monitoring center are sent to field devices, thereby enabling remote monitoring and operation.
IV. Application Cases
In the Hami region of Xinjiang, an automated drip-irrigation system provides monitoring and management for drip irrigation of a wide range of irrigated crops, including jujubes, cotton, Hami melons, corn, and windbreak shelterbelts, with a total irrigated area approaching 70,000 mu. By integrating irrigation with intelligent management, the system has effectively enhanced water-use efficiency and crop yields.
V. Future Trends
This integration will further enhance the efficiency of farmland irrigation, driving the green transformation and sustainable development of agriculture.
